COMMUNITY SELF HELP FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (COSSUDEO)

Introduction

Community Self Help for Sustainable Development Organization is a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization registered 2014, with registration 00NGO/00007155. It offers humanitarian and social development programmers to poor communities in Tanzania. The organization provides technical, educational and material assistance to poor communities. It was established in 2012 by group of “intellectuals” and non intellectuals. The Organizational Center Office is at Iringa Regional Commissioner Office at SHILDA Block.

PURPOSE

To empower individual persons and/or community by alleviating their impoverish living due to abject poverty.

GOAL

Quality of life and social well being for community improved

The Scope.

Dealing with all poor rural and town squatter areas in Tanzania mainland.

The targeted groups

The Population of rural and town squatter inhabitants, because it is in rural and town squatter areas within Tanzania where the majority of poor people live. To promote, co-ordinate and facilitate collaboration in social development and social welfare activities and to bring together, by meetings or otherwise, international and national voluntary organizations, associations, persons and other bodies, or their representatives, involved in social development and social welfare.

Beneficiaries and Geographic Focus

The main beneficiaries will include COSSUDEO member’s organizations and the communities they serve. The other beneficiaries will include but not limited to Local Government Authorities, Ministries, Departments and other Civil Societies Organizations. The service and activities of COSSUDEO will be based in Iringa Region for the whole country.

Implementing Programs/Projects

COSSUDEO was formulated in 2014. After sometime the Government and some NGOs spoke of alleviating the poverty of the town squatter and rural population in Tanzania, We thought to participate in this activity since its inception COSSUDEO have done several operational projects as following

1. MISITU NI MALI This is the project which dealing with the forestation in order to help environment conservation

2. TUWATUNZE this also is the project dealing with helping venerable people in livelihood level

3. FEMALE STUDENT EMPOWERMENT this was a program dealing with young Girls students in schools teaching about entrepreneurship

Also Community Self Help for Sustainable Development Organization (COSSUDEO) has Collaboration/ Partnership with Iringa Mercy Organization (IMO) bay implementing related projects such as, THE FOUNDATION FOR CIVIL SOCIETY which dealt with the law of HIV/AIDS 2008 Tanzania mainland in 2012/2013 the fund was Tsh 45,000,000, 2003-2004 CARE-VISHIP under USAID on Health for PLHIV project , the fund was Tsh 36,000,000, 2009-2013 UHAI CT- under JHPIEGO on Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), counseling and testing to general population and Most at Risk People (MARPs) the fund was Tsh 560,000,000, 2012/2014 Through Tanzania capacity communication program (TCCP) under Care International -USAID , IMO has implemented campaign in Behavioral change communication (BCC), which dealt with advocacy issues, the fund was 124,000,000, 2016- 2015 TUNAJALI I&II under DELOITTE USAID on Home Based Care (HBC) and counseling and testing ,the fund was Tsh 1,000,000,000, 2016- 2015 Pamoja Tuwalee project which dealt with Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) and GBV issues under Africare USAID, the fund was Tsh 474,000,000 and 2014-2015 husika project which dealt with key population (Female Sex Worker and Men Sex to Men) in under PSI Tanzania USAID, the fund was Tsh 144,000,000 ,SAUTI project which deal HIV Prevention to Key Volnerable Population(Female Sex Worker and Men Sex to Men)2015/2016 the fund was 511,114,300. So due to experience we have as an organization in implementing health related projects we believe that we are able to implement this project.

Iringa Mercy Organization(IMO) propose to work in Iringa region all four districts (Kilolo, Iringa Municipal, Iringa DC, and Mufindi) being our priority areas.

The Mandate

Being a non –Government organization COSSUDEO is non-profit organization registered under NGOs government regulations COSSUDEO is working with MDGs, COSSUDEO has a very broad institutional mandate for programming and operationalisation. Clarification of its mandate is based on what is provided for its constitution.

Background

The Organization was founded to promote the concept of community development. It was established as a response to engage in mobilizing and developing the poor rural urban people in street/ villages, wards and peripheral areas who are normally living below $1 per day and eventually helping them to raise their well being using their available resources.

A part from that, the organization will engage in identifying, mobilizing and training some matters regarding in Agriculture, Public health, Entrepreneurship, Environmental issue and any Cross cutting issues for the purpose of enhancing individual economic status through impacting better modern knowledge which will aim to improve their living standard as the national prime objectives.
